Medicare Plans -Texas Health Team

Basic Medicare is the federal health insurance program for:

People who are 65 or older
Certain younger people with disabilities (must be doctor-certified as disabled for 2 years prior).
People with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant, sometimes called ESRD)

Basic Medicare consists of Part A and Part B:

Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance)
Part A covers inpatient hospital stays, care in a skilled nursing facility, hospice care, and some home health care.
Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance)
Part B covers certain doctors' services, outpatient care, medical supplies, and preventive services.

Basic Medicare is only the starting point for Seniors on Medicare. Basic Medicare is missing several areas of coverage including: No Prescription Drug Coverage and No Out of Pocket Maximum for medical costs. As such, we recommend looking into additional Medicare coverage through a Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement or Prescription Drug Plan.

Medicare Supplement Plans:

These plan (also known as Medi-Gap Plans) offer additional medical services to complement Basic Medicare.
With Medicare Supplement Plans, you should highly consider also getting a Prescription Drug Plan.

Medicare Advantage Plans

Medicare Part C (medical premiums and co-pays)

Part C is known as Medicare Complete and offers more extensive coverage than Basic Medicare.

Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage)
Helps cover the cost of prescription drugs (including many recommended shots or vaccines).
Additional Benefits

Medicare Advantage Plans can also have additional benefits such as Dental Coverage, Vision Plans, Hearing Aid Plans, Gym Membership and Over-the-Counter Benefits. Additional benefits are available to seniors with certain additional qualifying characteristics.
